Today, Spain stands as one of the world’s single largest producers of wine, competing only with France and Italy. From Spanish indigenous white grapes such as Albariño, Verdejo and Palomino, to red grapes such as Tempranillo, Garnacha and Monastrell, Spain delivers a richness and diversity of world-class wines unlike any other country on earth. In the second half of the eighteenth century, friar Junípero Serra planted Spanish grape varieties in California to produce the first American wines. Today, they generate wines in Spain poised to leave an impression and bring life to the richness of Spain’s gastronomy.
